Principles of Agriculture

Principles of Agriculture course is an introductory course designed to prepare students for careers in agriculture, food, and natural resources. This course allows students to develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities in agriculture, specifically related to leadership, plant science, animal industry, food technology, and agriculture mechanics.

Your twenty-five dollar ($25.00) FFA fee is due by Friday, October 16, 2020.

There will be no formal text book used in this course. For the student to gain understanding and comprehension of the course, the following reference sources and materials will used: The Official FFA Manual, Parliamentary Procedure Guide for FFA by Jarrell D. Gray, instructional material from CEV and IMS along with teacher generated instructional.

Any assignment not turned in within the allotted time falls within the late work guideline. All school policies regarding make-up and late work will be followed. All make-up or late work not completed within the required time period will receive a zero grade.

Retest/Redo Guidelines

 

A student will have one opportunity each grading period to retake a test and a daily grade, for which he/she earned a failing grade (a grade below 70). The highest grade a student can earn on a test retake will be a 70. A student may not earn a grade lower than the original grade.

Class participation includes being active participant in classroom lecture, discussion, and activities. Daily grades include worksheets, handouts, hands on activities and other assigned material/work. Test will consist of both oral and written test.

The following is the grading policy for Principles of Agriculture:

Daily 20%

Assessment                                   40%

Major/Test Grades                       40%

Total                                                100%

 

Grading Period 1 Average:             33%

Grading Period 2 Average:              33%

Final Exam:                                   34%

Total:                                               100%

There will be plenty of opportunity for students to earn extra-credit throughout the semester.
Extra credit must be approved by the Agriculture Science Instructor.
