Welcome to Floral Design!

This course is part of the Plant Science Program of Study and is designed to develop a student's ability to identify and demonstrate the principles and techniques related to floral design as well as develop an understanding of the management of floral enterprises. Horticulture systems, career opportunities, entry requirements, and industry expectations will also be covered. By the end of this course, students will have the opportunity to earn BOTH the Knowledge-based Floral Design certification and the Level 1 Floral Design certification to provide proof of their knowledge and hands-on skills in the floral industry. Students will have the ability to further build their resume by earning the Level Two Floral Design certification in Advanced Floral Design. (Successfully completing Floral Design satisfies the fine arts credit requirement for graduation.)

This course is part of the Plant Science Program of Study and is designed to build on the knowledge and skills developed in the Floral Design course. Students are introduced to more advanced floral design concepts, with an emphasis on specialty designs and specific occasion planning. By the end of this course, students will have the opportunity to earn the Level 2 Floral Design certification to provide proof of their advanced hands-on skills in the floral industry. Being able to add this certification to a resume that already lists the Floral Design Knowledge certification and hands-on Level One certification earned in Floral Design, will undoubtedly make their resume stand out. (NOTE: Students unable to sit for the Level One certification test in Floral Design due to COVID will have an opportunity to make that up and get back on track, making them eligible to earn their Level Two certification as well in this course.)
